ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was established in the year 2007 with a total intake of 60. Electrical and Electronics engineering at BITS offers programs in "traditional" electrical engineering. Electrical engineering students get deeply involved with at least two of the following areas: Power systems, computers, control systems, electromagnetics, electronics and Electrical Machines, and Power Electronics. The programs provide a sound foundation for entry into the engineering profession, and opportunities for graduates are extensive, often depending only on the interests of the individual. Graduates work in most of the domains , including the computer, Electrical Power plants. They design high-tech devices ranging from tiny electronic chips to simulation projects. They design and operate a wide array of complex technological systems, such as power generation and distribution systems and modern computer-controlled manufacturing plants. They are also involved in, testing, quality control. With additional training, they may even contribute in other professions.

Mission, Vision and Strategic Plan:

Vision:

Guiding current and future activities through the year 2010, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will be recognized for high-quality educational programs through focused activities and excellence of its faculty, staff, graduates, and facilities. The department has the vision to become a high standard of excellence in education and research in the field of electrical engineering

Our Mission:

In order to achieve such vision, the department has defined its mission to produce Electrical Engineer graduates who are able to compete beyond the national labor market The graduates will be capable to respond to the vast growing engineering technology development though the support of excellent educational process, excellent management and organization, international standard of competence of the teaching staff and reputation in specific research activities. As the original engineering program in the BITS devoted to Electrical and Electronics, and consistent with the missions of JNT University, Hyderabad. The mission of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering is: • To provide high-quality and broad-based undergraduate education in electrical and electronics engineering • To conduct high-quality research programs that will advance the state of knowledge, and • To contribute to the engineering profession and to society through service activities

Strategic Plan

The department has developed a comprehensive strategic plan supporting our vision and mission. You are invited to review our strategic plan and provide us with any thoughts or comments

Objectives:

In line with the missions and visions, Electrical Engineering Department’s Bachelor in Electrical Engineering program aims to produce electrical engineers with a strong foundation in the relevant sciences and technology, who are able to contribute to society through innovation, enterprise and leadership". The structure of the Electrical Engineering program is designed to meet the following program objectives: To develop knowledge and skills required for a career in Electrical Engineering. To develop an understanding of and an ability to apply basic sciences, mathematics and electrical and information sciences to the practice of Electrical Engineering. To provide an environment that prepares students for diverse careers and life-long learning. To enable students to understand the interactions of Electrical Engineering with the society, business, technical, and environmental spheres. To enable students to contribute to national development and global economy. Students will be able to identify, formulate, and solve Electrical Engineering problems. Students will obtain a solid understanding of professional and ethical responsibility and recognition of the need for, and ability to engage in, perpetual learning. Students shall be able to design and conduct scientific and engineering experiments, and to analyze and interpret the results. Students shall have the ability to function and communicate effectively. Consistent with the breadth of Electrical Engineering, the Department offers a wide range of technical specialties.
